Cupping
Cupping is a type of therapy that uses suction to move energy within the body. When suction is applied to the body it creates a novel healing experience. Our bodies are used to being pushed on, whether through massage, hugs, or even just sitting or laying, pressure is applied. With cupping the opposite happens, the skin and underlying tissues are being pulled out, which allows the body to release in a different way. It can have effects as deep as those of a massage!

Cupping is an excellent therapy for muscle and fascial tightness and adhesions, breaking up scar tissue, regulating the organs, and even (when caught early enough) reducing or eliminating colds and flus. It provides enough negative pressure to pull anything stuck in the tissues to the surface so they can be more easily cleared away. I often combine cupping with my internal medicine treatments to help the body's energy move before applying acupuncture.
Please note: I only practice dry cupping. Wet cupping (bleeding cupping) should only be done by a practitioner who is set up to be able to sterilize the cups between uses. Unsterilized cups used for bleeding have a risk of transmitting blood borne pathogens.
